We as a nation, and indeed a race for that matter, are seemingly obsessed with the way we look, and are on an ostensibly never ending quest in pursuit of the body beautiful. We all want to look and feel great, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that in the slightest. The problem however, is that many people put themselves through pure hell in pursuit of a better looking body, when in reality there is absolutely no reason for them to do so in the slightest.
These people for example, may absolutely detest working out in gyms, particularly when it comes to cardio, yet they will subject themselves to pure hell for hours upon hours at a time, sweating away on a treadmill, staring at the same four walls, constantly checking the machine’s display to see how many calories they’ve roughly burned off, and more importantly, how long they have left before they get to leave. But why? Exercise and fitness should be fun and enjoyable, and it should not make you miserable in the process. These people may hate treadmills, yet love dancing, so why on earth are they not taking part in dance classes to lose weight instead? Dance classes such as Zumba for example, are insanely popular right now and are one of the highly popular classes at the best retreats and camps they offer numerous benefits when it comes to health, fitness, and general well-being. It’s great for weight loss – Let’s face it, one of the main reasons why so many of us exercise is so that we can lose weight, or more specifically, lose body fat. Zumba, is absolutely ideal because during the average zumba dance class, you will burn an insane amount of calories, roughly between 500 – 700, all in just one hour, which is most certainly not to be sniffed at.
It’s a great full-body workout – Another fantastic benefit of zumba classes is that the dance itself provides a fantastic full-body workout, so that not only are you burning calories, but you’re also toning and strengthening your muscles in the process. Various different muscle groups will be engaged, and on top of that, your coordination also improves greatly.
It’s fun! – If you were to ask people what they enjoyed more – walking/jogging on a treadmill for an hour at a time, or engaging in a zumba dance class, and the majority of the time the zumba class would win hands down. Zumba is so beneficial because not only does it allow you to lose fat and tone your muscles, it also keeps you entertained because it’s so enjoyable. Whilst engaging in a zumba dance, you won’t even realise you’re exercising because you’ll be having so much fun, which in turn will mean that the minutes just fly by and before you know it you’ll have completed a class and will be reaping the benefits as a results. Time flies when you’re having fun, and one hour of zumba will feel like ten minutes compared with one hour on a treadmill.
